Write me a fanfic about a fish who ate too much pineapple.
Castiel was, in every way, your average, normal, run-of-the-mill angelfish. He was perfectly normal, and did nothing out of the ordinary, and definitely did not come off the line with a “crack in his chassis” as his sister sometimes liked to say. He was 100% average.
Except for how much he loved pineapple.
God, he couldn’t get enough of it. The sweet-and-sour flesh melting in his mouth, that beautiful yellow fruit from above shining like the sun high in the sky. He thought it was the most amazing thing in the world. But he had to hide this; it wasn’t normal for a fish to like eating land-food like that, and if he was ever caught during one of his little feasts, he knew that his family wouldn’t be forgiving; they might even kick him out of the cove permanently. So he ate in secret, relishing the sweet tang of the fruit in his mouth long after it was all gone.
But one day, Castiel went too far. He had found a large amount of pineapple, cut and ready for someone’s lunch, waiting on a dock, and had somehow even as a fucking fish managed to maneuver it into the water with him. It was a tremendous amount of pineapple for a fish his size to consume, but he knew he couldn’t let the precious fruit go to waste in the water, so he ate it all. Soon after, the pains set in; Castiel found himself on the ocean floor, lying in the sand on his side, a sharp pain in his abdomen. A deep smoke appeared to be entering the corners of his peripheral vision, and it grew further and further inward, until with a deep pull of water through his gills, Cas knew that he was going to black out, and soon after, saw nothing but blackness engulf him.
When he awoke, he saw ahead of him a deep green. It was fuzzy, and he still felt very sick, so he let himself drift back into the darkness clouding the edges of his vision.
The next time he opened his eyes, he saw the dock on which he had stolen the pineapple, spread in front of him out into the…wait. The dock. If he was looking at the dock, then he wasn’t in the water…so how was he still pulling fresh saltwater through his gills? He glanced up and around himself, seeing the dock all around him. Getting frantic, he began to attempt to swim back into the ocean, which he could see winking at him in the afternoon sunlight off the edge of the dock, but he hit suddenly hit a wall; some kind of invisible barrier which was keeping him from swimming more than half a foot away. Cas knew he was in trouble now; he began swimming in frantic circles, hitting every edge of the invisible barrier that was containing him. In a sudden burst of clarity, he understood; he was in a miniature ocean, contained within a transparent material, through which he could see the dock. He wondered if the container had a top, or if he would be able to maneuver out of it this way.
He pulled his eyes upward toward the top of the container, and was met with a pair of bright, curious green eyes staring back at him.
